“It was quiet, peaceful and the night was good and dark as we love! Not exactly an ocean view more a marina and bay but we could hear the big waves off in the distance. It rained constantly but we headed to the beaches and explored the hiking trails and low tide pools. Bring rain gear. We slept so soundly in those great sheets and comfortable bed! The Renfrew hotel had excellent fish and chips and staff was fun and friendly. Most of the other places were closed for the season. Rob and Heather had zero personal clutter in their rental. Clear space for deep R&R”

“We chose this relaxing location and this particular accommodation for our 30th wedding anniversary. It was absolutely perfect. We walked the very lovely neighbourhood to the community dock, had our little dog with us, watched from the living room while eagles came and went on the trees outside along the water’s edge, and the view was exactly as in the photos. We brought dinner the first night to prepare, and on the second night, we enjoyed dinner at the Renfrew Pub. A perfect experience. Great owner/hosts. Loved the unit and hope to come back. “

“Super comfortable beds and furnishings. They put in so much effort to make guests welcome and comfortable. Soda stream even! It was one of the nicests places I’ve stayed. Hosts were very responsive responding under an hour with info for our check in as a same day booking. My mom slept on the pull out and had great sleeps, wants to know where they bought their pillows even! There were boardgames which my daughter loved and so much to do – we hiked into beautiful beaches and really enjoyed the surroundings. Hosts were great, we would definitely return again.”

“This place has an amazing view! Directions were great and easy to get into. Chairs out back were so comfortable. Main bedroom was extremely comfortable as well. Note, if you are are allergic to dogs, this may not be the place for you so maybe keep that in mind. Also, there was no cell service for us (bell-which we knew ahead of time) but our power went out and we were told by locals that it happens often (all of the town). Came back on 4 hours later or so. All in all, nice place to stay!”

“We stayed at Heather and Robs place for 3 nights and it was absolute bliss. It was great to be able to bring our dogs and be provided with pet bowls. The house was spacious and perfect for our family of 4. We spend 3 beautiful days on the beaches around the area and truly enjoyed every minute. This was not our first visit to Port Renfrew so we were prepared with food and drinks but as a heads up to anyone not familiar with the area, it is remote and there are not a lot of options to eat out in the off season. We did enjoy a couple meals at the pub but loved having the full kitchen to be able to prepare meals at the house. Highly recommend this place for a getaway. The view is breathtaking from the kitchen, living room and dining area. You could spend all day just watching the wildlife from the comfort of your Airbnb. Thanks so much, Heather and Rob!”

“Upon arrival the area was more developed than we realized but it was still rather peaceful. Beautiful views of the ocean from the unit, loved the two glass sliding doors. We had a brief hiccup with the lock code but Heather responded right away and was able to remotely unlock it and quickly resolve the issue so we could come and go. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook up the groceries we bought in Lake Cowichan. We unfortunately had to cut our trip short but Heather was very understanding and supportive as we communicated about the unexpected issue before and after our departure. Close to beaches and other places to visit in the area. Really appreciated access to light cleaning supplies so we could sweep up throughout out our stay. Although it was shorter than we planned we enjoyed the time we were there.”

The balcony overlooks the water, and we spent happy evenings just listening to the waves and watching the clouds drift by over the mountains as the sun set. There was plenty of space for us, our two tweens, and wee dog. The hosts provide lots of useful information ahead of check-in. The unit is climate-controlled, the kitchen is well stocked, and the TV is next level. I’d book this place again in a heartbeat. Hopefully we’ll be back next year! Be aware there is surprisingly NO cellular service in the entire area so you will depend on having to find wifi locations from restaurants or pubs. (there are maybe 4 in total). Ensure you have the entry information from the host before leaving a major city enroute. There’s a beach full of sun-bleached driftwood where the kids found incredible pieces to keep as souvenirs. We found the view incredible, watching the eagles land in the trees amazing and bedding comfortable. And we enjoyed the beach with the driftwood amazing.”

“We loved the cottage and noticed that Heather & Rob spared no expense toward creating a high quality home. All the decor, from the lovely dining-ware and kitchen appliances (clean BBQ set, great tea selection, coffee maker) to the furniture and sea-themed items were just amazing and made it that much more enjoyable…You can tell they care in bringing quality to their customers. The location was very unique…its at a very new development so it’s brand spanking new…i was confused at first when I arrived because at the time, it was still a construction site…new cottages are still being built. I’m an engineer specializing in residential development and the quality of these homes are well built. Highly recommend the venue. As for the drive to the cottage, it was a beautiful drive coming from Nanaimo. It was snowing coming through Duncan but as we were approaching Port Renfrew, the temperature dropped which provided for a safe, no-snow drive to the cottage. If you’re worried about the drive to the cottage, you can rest assured that the route is very safe to drive through. The only issue we had was that the check in time was a little late in the day for us at 4pm. If the time would change to an earlier check in close to 12, that would be great! Adjusting to ‘Island’ time was all too easy and hours spent on the beach or on a visit to Botanical beach could have been repeated endlessly. “We spent a week with our kids at Heather & Rob’s beautiful house. The location is superb; the views over Port Renfrew’s Bay are simply amazing…one could spend hours on their terrace. Port Renfrew is probably one of those few places that still exist where tourism has not arrived yet, but not for long…so you’d better visit it before it is too late. It combines excellent and fun beaches (China, Mystic, Sombrio, Botanic…) with a wild nature, ancient forests, beautiful rivers and lakes…Heather & Rob’s house is furnished and equipped at a high standard: from the mattress to the dining table, pottery, Smart TV, BBQ….one can tell everything is chosen with care. Would love to come back sometime!”

“We had a wonderful weekend at Heather & Rob’s. Such an incredible view! You have neighbours directly on either side of the cottage with solid privacy walls on the deck. Everyone staying at the complex was super friendly. Managed to catch some crab for dinner in the bay and a small rock cod (that we threw back), the kitchen had everything we needed for a wonderful dinner with friends Saturday night.
